coming across VARAN at südtiroler platz, wien

"Line U1 of the Vienna Metro transports passangers between Kagran and Reumannplatz. The line was completed in 1982, running entirely in tunnel south of the Danube, and entirely on elevated track north of the Danube. The length of the line is 6.8 miles, travel time is 18 minutes, and there are 12 stations in between: Alte Donau, Kaisermühlen, Donauinsel, Vorgartenstrasse, Praterstern, Nestroyplatz, Schwedenplatz, Stephansplatz, Karlsplatz, Staubstummengasse, Südtiroler Platz, Keplerplatz. An extention line further north to Leopoldau is under construction.
Südtiroler Platz, the South Tyrol Square, is twelfth stop of the Viennese U1 metro line, the red line, going from northeast to southwest. The square was named to commemorate the loss of South Tyrol after the First World War, as it was part of Austria before."
